This newly created role has been introduced to support the business through a period of sustained growth. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you'll lead a dedicated administration team, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of daily operations while providing vital support to the Lab Manager and Managing Director. From stock control to supplier coordination, this role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in maintaining exceptional standards.

Duties and responsibilities


  • Lead and manage the administration team, ensuring efficient workflow and high performance.
  • Oversee office systems, procedures, and policies to maintain a productive work environment.
  • Work closely with the Lab Manager to coordinate lab-related administrative tasks.
  • Assist the Managing Director with general operational duties, reporting, and project coordination.
  • Monitor and manage laboratory and office and laboratory stock levels.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely procurement and cost-effective purchasing.
  • Ensure a high standard of customer service is maintained.
  • Handle escalated customer queries and support the team in delivering timely responses.
  • Working with our Business Development Manager and Key Account Director as the link between the laboratory and customer.
  • Coordinate and manage relationships with outsourced service providers and customers (e.g., cleaning, maintenance, logistics).
  • Ensure service level agreements are in place and maintained.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills


  • Experience in ISO 17025 / 15189 or regulated industry.
  • Proven experience in office or operations management, preferably in a scientific or technical environment.
  • Good understanding of strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and office management software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in stock control or procurement.
  • Familiarity with laboratory operations or scientific environments highly desirable.
